Our History

Located in Mayfield, Kentucky and founded in the early 1900s, Duncan Prescription Center is one of the oldest, privately owned pharmacies in the nation. Originally founded as W.J. Johnston & Brother Drug Store, the pharmacy was a well-known community staple committed to serving the community one customer at a time. As the city grew, the pharmacy changed locations and names multiple times until, following a merger in 1988, the company’s name was changed to Duncan Prescription Center.

In November 2005, we added yet another milestone to our colorful history with the opening of Duncan Clinic Pharmacy inside the Jackson Purchase Medical Pavillion. Together, the two pharmacy locations continue to service patients in their surrounding communities.

Despite Duncan Prescription Center’s long history, today we remain just as committed to our customers as the day we opened. We understand how important excellent customer service and savings are to our patients, and we frequently keep an eye out for coupons, manufacturer discounts and other helpful tools.
